Vacations are around the corner… Eating Right Away from Home


Just because vacation is around the corner does not mean all healthy balanced eating should be forgotten, there is a way to do it all. Balance and portioning is the key to success. Here are some of our favorite tips to help.


Stay hydrated- keep a water bottle with you and fill it up often. Try to have at least one to two cups water every morning when you wake and every night before bed.

Plan ahead- look up restaurants in advance, plan for flights, car rides, etc by bringing snacks. Fresh fruits and vegetables are one of the best.

Stay active- exercise even on vacation. Take a city tour or walk along the beach. Play games at the beach or choose places to stay with a fitness center.

Limit alcohol- 1 glass for women and 2 for men is the recommendation. If you have alcohol, make sure to rehydrate. Your mind and body will thank you.

Choose wisely- pick the foods you really want and portion them. Decide which foods are the ones you want. Sometimes just because it’s called dessert we think we want it. And “all you can eat” does not necessarily mean we have to overeat.
